Wound magnetic cores

Nanocrystalline

Nanocrystalline magnetic cores consist of nanometre-sized crystalline grains embedded in an amorphous matrix.

This structure provides very high permeability and extremely low losses, while allowing their magnetic properties to be modified through different thermomagnetic treatments.

Their composition is 73.5% iron (Fe), 13.5% silicon (Si), 9% boron (B), 3% niobium (Nb) and 1% copper (Cu). They have a magnetic saturation of 1.2 T and a strip thickness of between 15 and 20 micrometres.

Key Features

Very low
losses

Their nanometre-sized grain structure enables extremely low magnetic losses.

Excellent frequency performance

They provide an alternative to ferrites and enable a significant reduction in the size of equipment such as converters and filters.

Thermal
stability

They maintain their magnetic properties over a wide temperature range.

Very
low noise

Their zero magnetostriction results in particularly low acoustic noise.

Tailored hysteresis loop

Thermomagnetic treatment makes it possible to modify the hysteresis loop and achieve different magnetic behaviours.

Types of nanocrystalline magnetic cores
nanocristalinos ovalados - ELESA

Toroidal and oval nanocrystalline magnetic cores are produced by winding the material around circular or oval tooling and require subsequent thermomagnetic treatment to achieve the required magnetic properties.

Available as uncut or cut cores, the inherent fragility of the material makes protection necessary. They are therefore supplied with an insulating epoxy powder coating or housed in enclosures made from different materials, such as polyamide, steel or aluminium.

nanocristalinos rectangulares multicorte - ELESA

Rectangular nanocrystalline magnetic cores are produced by winding the material around rectangular tooling and require subsequent thermomagnetic treatment.

Available as complete or cut cores, their finish is adapted to the characteristics of each core. Complete cores are normally supplied with an epoxy powder coating or tape-wrapped when larger in size. Cut cores can be supplied with an anti-corrosion paint finish, which improves their appearance and makes them easier to handle.
