This type of Transformers are used in MFDC machines for Spot welding, Protuberances, Seam and Flash welding applicattions.
Their possition is static inside the machines and they are subjected to higher welding efforts than in case of guns, that’s why their secondary and rectifier are reinforded with bigger copper sections and welding diodes of higher capacity and power.
Depending on the current requirements for the welding application, we can place several Transformers in parallel for increassing the level of current.
The main advantages against 50hz, 3-phase solutions with 6-phase current wave is getting a smaller machine volumen for the same energy capacity as 50Hz and have a better control of welding process for acting at 1ms instead of 20ms of AC technology.
These Transformers cover a wide range of power rates, from 20KVA to 250KVA at 50% of duty cycle. AC part encapsulated and water cooled, with just one rectifier unit formed with one or several groups of welding diodes.
