DUO type cores are low-cost, competitively priced and easy-to-assemble cores. No tools are required. This type of cores with a 1-plate overlap is used for distribution transformers.
DG-type cores are a family of cores with only one cut per plate. No tooling is required for their manufacture. They are used for measuring transformers.
Stepbutt cores are only used in shell configurations for general purpose transformers as a replacement for EI laminations up to 2 KVA. Their loss level is higher than that of DUO and DG models, comparable to or slightly lower than type 'C' and considerably lower than laminations.
These types of cores have one or more programmable air gaps per column and can be single or three-phase. They are mainly suitable for use in reactors.
Rectangular cores without cuts. They are used for voltage and power converters. They are always annealed to achieve the lowest losses and the lowest magnetizing power.
